This Lemon Tiramisu is a refreshing twist on the classic Italian dessert. Ingredients

Lemon Simple Syrup:

  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 lemon peel
  • Juice of 1 lemon

Cream Layer:

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 8 ounces mascarpone cheese
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 2 teaspoons lemon zest

Assembly:

  • 7 ounces ladyfingers (about 24)
  • 11–12 ounces store-bought lemon curd (or homemade, if preferred)

Instructions

Step 1: Make the Lemon Simple Syrup

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the water , sugar , and lemon peel . Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves completely.
  2. Reduce the heat and let the mixture simmer for 1–2 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat, squeeze in the juice of 1 lemon , and stir to combine.
  4. Let the syrup cool completely before using. You can speed up the process by placing it in the refrigerator.

Step 2: Whip the Cream Layer

  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat the heavy cream , mascarpone cheese , powdered sugar , and lemon zest together using a hand mixer or stand mixer.
  2. Whip until soft peaks form—be careful not to overmix. The mixture should be light, fluffy, and spreadable. Set aside.

Step 3: Dip and Layer the Ladyfingers

  1. Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled lemon syrup—just a quick dunk to moisten them, not a long soak.
  2. Arrange half of the dipped ladyfingers in an even layer at the bottom of an 8×8-inch or 9×9-inch dish .

Step 4: Add Lemon Curd and Cream

  1. Spread 1/3 of the lemon curd evenly over the layer of ladyfingers.
  2. Dollop and spread half of the mascarpone cream mixture over the lemon curd, smoothing it with a spatula.

Step 5: Repeat the Layers

  1. Add the remaining dipped ladyfingers as the second layer.
  2. Spread another 1/3 of the lemon curd over the ladyfingers, followed by the remaining mascarpone cream mixture.
  3. Drizzle the remaining 1/3 of the lemon curd on top for a decorative finish.

Step 6: Chill and Serve

  1. Cover the assembled tiramisu with plastic wrap or foil and refrigerate for at least 4 hours , or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld and the dessert to set.
  2. Before serving, garnish with extra lemon zest for a pop of color and added brightness.

Tips for Success

  • Use fresh lemon juice and zest : Fresh ingredients make a huge difference in flavor compared to bottled lemon juice.
  • Don’t oversoak the ladyfingers : A quick dip ensures they stay firm enough to hold their shape but soft enough to absorb the lemony goodness.
  • Make your own lemon curd : If you prefer homemade, whisk together eggs, sugar, butter, and lemon juice over low heat until thickened. Cool before using.
  • Serve chilled : This dessert tastes best when served cold, straight from the fridge.

Serving Suggestions

  • Pair with a glass of sparkling wine or lemonade for a refreshing combination.
  • Garnish with fresh berries like raspberries or blueberries for a colorful touch.

Enjoy this Lemon Tiramisu —a bright, creamy, and citrusy twist on a classic dessert that’s sure to delight your taste buds!
